Perimeter

Author: admin

A word perimeter is derived from two Greek words ‘peri’ which means around and ‘meter’ which means measure. The perimeter of an area is the path that surrounds the area and it could also mean the length of the path that surrounds the area. The perimeter of an area that is circular in shape is called its circumference. In our daily life there are many reasons to calculate the perimeter. For example when we need to fence our garden or field, the perimeter is calculated. When we need to find the circumference of a wheel to calculate the distance covered in one revolution or to calculate the amount of string that would be needed to be wound around a spool the perimeter is calculated.
