Defence forces of India include The Army, the Navy and the Indian force. Though it is the President of the nation who is the supreme commander of all these three forces, yet the hegemony over the three is established by the Union Cabinet. The Indian Army includes the Infantry, armoured corps, and Army medical corps. While the Indian Navy includes the Submarines, aircraft carriers, frigates and corvettes. Air force has 5 operational commands based on regional division. Each of the defence have unique commissioned ranks for their officials. For eg., Field Marshal in the Army is of the same designation as the Admiral of a fleet and a Marshal of the Air Force.
